Now that we are into 2012 and have hit the five-months-to-go mark, we would like to call for more helpers. Right now we would love to have you on board for any of the following. There are a bunch of roles there with varying degrees of time involvement and skills needed. Drop us a line if you are interested or have any questions.
Volunteer and panel liaison
Thanking volunteers and asking them for a preferred timeslot -forwarding this info to event programmer.
Asking those running panel/event for a blurb for con book – forwarding this info to person responsible for con book.
Asking those running panel/event if any special requirements (A/V, lighting, advance prep etc) – forward to event programmer.
Thanking guests and asking them for a preferred timeslot -forwarding this info to event programmer
Asking guests for a blurb for con book about panel/events they are running – forwarding this info to person responsible for con book.
Asking guests if any special requirements for panels/events – forward this info to event programmer.
Asking guests if any personal special requirements and then advise concom.
Working with programme designer on scheduling events/panels as per guest/volunteer requirements.
Collecting and organizing any special equipment etc for events/panels.
Con Book Publisher
Putting together a draft copy of the con book and then a final copy.
Obtain quotes for printing (once format has been decided).
Arrange for delivery of con book approx 10 days before the con.
Advertising and Sponsorship (including con packs)
Ask for and compile a list of suitable advertisers (local businesses, SF bookstores, game stores etc).
Approach potential advertisers (rates will be supplied).
Forwarding ads (in suitable format) to con book publisher.
Approach dealers (list will be supplied) asking if they are willing to set up tables (rates will be supplied).
Approach dealers and advertisers for flyers/coupons/freebies to include in the con pack.
Organize the con pack stuffing.
Con Angels – Lots of them! (small but important things that make the con run smoothly)
Wrap prizes and thank you gifts.
Write thank you cards.
Registration desk helpers.
Speaks for itself really.
