The convention will be held at The Surrey Hotel which is in Grey Lynn just to the south of the Auckland CBD. The Hotel is only 5 minutes drive from the CBD. On this page we plan to list some of the travel options you may need to know about for this convention if you are traveling from further afield

From the Airport
If you are traveling in from Auckland International Airport, you should know that a taxi from the airport to Grey Lynn is going to be moderate by Auckland standards – about $45. If you want to keep costs down and aren’t able to share a taxi, we recommend that you try a shuttle bus instead. Shuttle buses and taxis can be found outside door 4 of the airport domestic terminal or door 8 of the international terminal.

Sharing a ride, even a shuttle, works out cheaper for you all. Feel free to use our facebook wall as a place for coordinating meetups at the airport or even offering a lift to folk if you are driving from further afield. By the way, you can use the facebook wall

Bus Routes
There isn’t a direct bus route from the Airport to Grey Lynn. There is an Airport Bus that goes from the Airport to the central city (ferry terminal). You can catch the bus from outside door 5 of the domestic terminal or door 7 of the international terminal. A one way ticket will cost you $16.

There is a bus stop very near the hotel (Stop 8112 – just along the Great North Road). There are a whole bunch of bus routes which run to there from Queen Street (near where the Airport bus stops – just beside Britomart and the Ferry terminal) or from Mayoral Drive near the Aotea centre. To figure out which will be the best one for you, visit the Maxx Journey Planner and put in the expected start date & time of your journey. The planner will give you alternatives for the routes as well as maps showing the stops. From town, it is a one-stage fare ($1.80 adult, $1.00 child) – if your bus is a Ritchies Coach, it will be slightly more expensive.

Note, we have given the default route above. Depending on the time of day you are travelling, there may be better alternatives by getting off the Airport bus earlier. We suggest you experiment with the Maxx planner to see what will suit you the best.

Be aware the last bus from the city centre to the hotel leaves at 10.20pm (10.50pm on Saturdays), and the last bus from the hotel into the city is at 11.10pm.
